              Welcome Home...
and to challenge of reclaiming Iloilo by reclaiming ourselves.

Why do we have the problems that we now have?

              Picture
Lets be honest and admit the way we are ain’t the way we were. Once upon a time of innocence Iloilo was a thriving commercial hub and a vibrant society. How the times have changed! The greatest generation, men and women who sacrificed in the dark days of World War II and struggled to rebuild this town, made the greatest mistake of not passing on their legacy of values such as patriotism, honesty, and self-reliance. They instead spawned a generation of personally corrupt, ungrateful, and self-entitled cynics. Why work when you can steal, di ba? What happened to civility? The previous generation must be rolling in their graves as we push the Creator to the limits of tolerance for indolence.

              Dude, where's my self-respect?

Iloilo has great potential despite nearly everyone from the baranggay captain on up wanting 'SOP', utilities over-charging and under-delivering, and labor arbitration stifling business. Our students can help Iloilo turn the corner on progress, but instead dream of going abroad. The poor believe they are destined to poverty. Negligent parenting is an epidemic as boys become feminized and girls dress like… well, you know. Public safety is often second-guessed. Indiscipline to stop littering and courtesy to fall in line is a contagion. We eat whatever and wonder why there is so much heart disease and diabetes. Votes are prostituted. Our youth indulge in alcoholism, perversions, waste, and narcissism.
For all our advances, are we blessed or cursed?

The change we need must come from within.

              Picture
Man once had a perfect relationship with God, but ruined it. Its time to rethink the mindless religiosity and reclaim that relationship God's way. Here the spirit will be lifted, the consumer empowered, and the citizen motivated. Iloilo's golden years are passed, but we've got to believe that, right here right now, we can decide to experience Iloilo's best years ahead. Acceptance that you are part of a 480,000-piece problem may be difficult, but when you come to terms with yourself and decide to make the change from ignorance to competence, from pride to humility, from failure to success, from sickness to health, and from wrong to right, then maybe the rest of Iloilo's 480,000 people will eventually be reclaimed. If not, at least you will have reclaimed yourself.

Who knows where it went- our character…
Lets go back and find it!
